The Los Angeles Clippers trade Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons
Five-time All-Star heads to the Motor City
The Los Angeles Clippers have traded five-time All-Star Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons in a blockbuster deal.
The Clippers will receive Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, and a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft in exchange for Griffin. The Pistons will also receive Willie Reed in the deal.
Griffin has averaged 21.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game over his eight seasons with the Clippers. He was the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Harris is a 25-year-old forward who has averaged 16.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game over his seven seasons in the NBA. He was drafted 19th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Bradley is a 27-year-old guard who has averaged 12.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game over his eight seasons in the NBA. He was drafted 19th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Marjanovic is a 29-year-old center who has averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game over his five seasons in the NBA. He was drafted 60th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2010 NBA Draft.
The Clippers are now expected to rebuild around Harris and Bradley, while the Pistons are hoping that Griffin can help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
