Cyprus Selects "Liar" for Eurovision
Silia Kapsis has been chosen to represent Cyprus at this year's Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Liar." The announcement was made by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) on February 9, 2024.
Cyprus' Eurovision Journey
This will be Cyprus's 40th appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has participated in the contest since 1981 and has had varying degrees of success. Its best result to date was in 2018, when Eleni Foureira placed second with the song "Fuego."
In recent years, Cyprus has struggled to qualify for the Eurovision final. In 2022, Andromache failed to make it past the semi-finals with her song "Ela." CyBC hopes that Silia Kapsis and her song "Liar" will be able to break this trend and bring Cyprus back to the final this year.
The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom, this year. The first semi-final will take place on May 9, 2024, and the final will be held on May 13, 2024. Fans around the world can tune in to watch Silia Kapsis and the other contestants compete for the Eurovision crown.
